Established in 1947 along with the founding of the university, the Dankook University flag aligns with the philosophical ideals of Hongik Ingan—the principle of benefiting all humankind.
It symbolizes the university’s aspiration to contribute to the world by cultivating individuals who uphold national integrity and lead the way in building a global community, positioning Korea at the center of the world.

Symbolic Animal – The Black Bear

The black bear, rooted in the founding myth of the Korean nation, symbolizes endurance, courage, and perseverance.
Representing strong will and the spirit of challenge forged through hardship, the black bear embodies Dankook University’s commitment to inheriting the Korean spirit while advancing toward progress and service to society.

The symbol mark represents Dankook University’s vision for the future—advancing dynamically alongside the world as a global leader.
Centered on the English initials “DKU,” the design features a dynamic orbit of light, symbolizing movement, growth, and global connectivity.

The rotating orbital path surrounding DKU reflects the university’s unity of purpose and its unwavering commitment to education, philosophy, and shared values, embodying Dankook University’s spirit of harmony and forward momentum.
